Acamar, or, The End of the River

At the moment, I feel whole.  Why?  I was able to leave work shortly after the 4 o'clock hour.  Spotify is giving me the perfect Top Hits for Joni Mitchell, Pavement, and Wilco.  I am drinking [a majority of a bottle of] red wine that friends gifted us last weekend for our Autumn Celebration.  J. is making beef stew that smells amazing.

Because I feel like a Cup of Jo copycat and Fridays are already the cat's meow without any extras, I think that I'll move my favorite things to Mondays.  To help get through the week, like shining stars, here they are:

A local of distinction.

Who doesn't want a little free library?

Fantasies of a shiny, new wallet.

Thank you Netflix for Season 8 and Season 3.

Meantime

accept.  don't expect*

The Sunday (and following days) I had in mind did not involve any kind of lost and found scenario.  Oh well... I suppose it is just another opportunity to practice going with the flow.

It's less than two weeks until the next wedding celebration.  The summer edition was pretty, damn fantastic, and I'm so looking forward to what (and who) the autumn ado will bring.

Untitled (Friday)

Happy Friday!  I hope your week was splendid and that your weekend will be even better.  My plan for the next two days is to do a lot of relaxing and a bit of home and garden work to get things prepped for our upcoming Autumnal Equinox ado.  If you're interested, here's a bit of what I fancy this week.

Bread and Butter

For maybe the first time ever, I gathered all of the required ingredients (in their requisite states) prior to beginning a baking recipe.  What I didn't do was read the recipe all the way through first, but there's always a next time.  As it turns out, the Browned Butter Buttermilk Banana Bread with Strawberry Butter is pretty straightforward and delicious.

Accommodations

Because an upright freezer and a whole lot of beef are headed our way, some serious cleanup was in order.  A large chunk of this past three-day weekend was devoted to laundry room disaster relief and reconstruction.  Thankfully, it's done (until I decide to change it again) and I really like it (for now).

Holiday Drive

Yesterday, J. and I took a drive into the country to pay a farmer for our quarter of a cow.  I'm pretty much always up for making a visit to a new farmstead.  It's fun to get "the tour."  This one was incredible to say the least.  Not only was it the made-from-scratch off-the-grid variety, but you can also tell that it was crafted with both practicality and aesthetics in mind.

The views (all of them) were breathtaking.
