Coop with a View

I worked my tail off this weekend.  A lot of my effort was directed toward the ladies' section of the yard.

Last year their coop was mobile, but I've made a few modification since then and because the front-yard lawn is now a network of raised garden beds and a food forest of sorts, I've set up a specified chicken run area of the back yard.  The amenities are adding up...

A while back, I made a gate for the run but finally got it installed this weekend.  The gate is constructed from the wooden panels of our front fence.  The plants (type unknown) on either side were transplanted from an area behind the garage.

Although it's a little late for planting parsley from seed, I planted it along the fence to the right of the fence over the weekend.  It may or may not take off.

Not this weekend, but recently, tomatoes were planted along the fence to the left of the gate.

Over the weekend, I planted cosmo and sunflower seeds along the front fence.

I transplanted a few more plants (of another unknown variety) from behind the garage to the area around the central air unit which is inside the chicken yard.

Lastly, but not least, I transplanted sod from the food forest pathway area to the back section of the chicken yard.  For now, I've fenced it off to give the grass a chance at survival.
